Livagen is a lab-made synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator (Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala) developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson as part of the Cytogen family. It is a short-chain peptide designed to interact directly with DNA and chromatin, primarily studied for its ability to restore youthful gene expression patterns in aging cells, with a focus on immune system lymphocytes, liver, and gastrointestinal tissues.
Think of Livagen as a “chromatin decondenser” that helps aging cells regain youthful gene activity.
How it works (super simple):
Livagen interacts with DNA and heterochromatin (tightly packed, silenced regions of chromosomes). It promotes decondensation (unpacking) of chromatin, activates ribosomal genes, and releases previously repressed genes due to age-related condensation — especially in lymphocytes from older individuals.
Main benefits (strongest from Khavinson’s studies on elderly cells and tissues):
• Chromatin activation & gene expression — decondenses heterochromatin, reactivates ribosomal genes, and restores youthful cellular profiles.
• Immune system support — improves lymphocyte function and overall immune response in aging.
• Liver and GI tract optimization — supports detoxification, regeneration, and metabolic balance in these tissues.
• Anti-aging & cellular rejuvenation — counteracts age-related gene silencing and chromatin condensation.
• Bonus signals: potential modulation of enkephalin-degrading enzymes (opioid system influence) and reduced chromosome instability.
In short: Livagen helps “unlock” silenced genes in aging cells, particularly supporting immune, liver, and digestive health at the epigenetic level.
Livagen has an excellent safety profile, consistent with other Khavinson bioregulators.
In studies: No serious adverse events reported.
Mild/rare effects:
• Occasional injection-site redness or mild warmth.
• Very rare transient fatigue on initial days.
Bigger caveats:
• Unknown ultra-long-term effects in large Western populations (most data from Russian trials).
• Real-world danger: unregulated products may vary in purity.
Bottom line: One of the gentlest bioregulators — side effects are almost nonexistent when used as directed.
Method of Administration: Subcutaneous into fatty tissue. See Reconstitution Guide.
Reconstitution: 2ml Bac water into single vial.
Dose: 2mg daily, therefore 20 units or 0.2ml. Use peptide calculator (link) for alternative dosage.
Course: 20 days.
Cycling: Repeat every 3 months for maintenance or as needed.
Tip: Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water; store in fridge. Use insulin syringes and sterile technique.
• Short but powerful — only 4 amino acids (Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala), yet it directly influences DNA packaging and gene expression.
• Chromatin “unlocker” — helps unpack tightly wound heterochromatin that accumulates with age, potentially reactivating silenced genes.
• Liver & immune focus — often researched alongside Ovagen for liver health and Thymalin for immunity.
• Khavinson classic — part of the original synthetic Cytogen series developed in the 1990s–2000s.
• Opioid system link — inhibits enkephalin-degrading enzymes more potently than some pharmaceutical inhibitors.
• Epigenetic pioneer — one of the early peptides shown to cause visible decondensation of chromosomes in elderly lymphocytes.
• Russian longevity staple — used in protocols for age-related immune decline and cellular rejuvenation.
Livagen is a fascinating epigenetic bioregulator that targets the root of age-related gene silencing — simple, targeted, and a staple in Khavinson-style longevity research
